Linear CCD 3D

"Measure distance to an infra-red light emitting diode over a range of 1.5 to 6 metres with a speed of up to 3,500 measurements points per second and an accuracy of around 0.02 mm."

This tutorial gives an overview of linear CCD 3-D sensor systems. It starts with some typical applications. Further detail is then given on how linear CCD systems work, and the key technology employed. The operation of these systems is described, and their typical accuracy, together with some of their advantages and disadvantages.
